Tree Planting

Elkesley Parish Council Greenwood Trees

Elkesley Parish Council were successful in being awarded a grant from the Greenwood Team, who are part of Notts County Council and are concerned with raising the awareness of the importance of planting trees and the benefits they bring.  We purchased 3 well established Cherry trees (Prunus Serrula, Shirofugen and Tai Haku) and a small group of volunteers (villagers, Play Area representatives and Parish Councillors) planted them alongside the footpath in the play area.

These varieties blossom at different times of the year and the barks and colours of the flowers will differ in colour as well too.  They will start to enhance the area, introducing natural colour and vertical interest to this large flat area.  Take a walk through the field and enjoy the area for yourself.

We would like to continue this planting and if you would like to be involved or wish to dedicate a tree please contact the clerk to the Parish Council
